Rita Kepner is a sculptor who loves to draw. She is founder of the Bainbridge Island Arts and Humanities Council, listed in Who's Who in American Art, noted in Women Artists in America II, and has exhibited her work in Poland, Hungary, Germany, Canada, Seattle Washington, with the Quimper Art Group and Bruskin Gallery in Port Townsend Washington.
Her sculpture is on display in public places including: Warsaw Museum, Warsaw Poland, City of Zalaegerszeg, Hungary, Seattle Public Library, Children's Hospital, Seattle City Collection at Seattle Center, Kenmore Public Library, Lowell School, and Washington Mutual Savings Bank in Seattle. She completed works for The US Army Corps of Engineers in Savannah, Georgia and the Cowlitz Indian Nation.
Her writings, on art and artists, have been published in Northwest Art, The Arts Magazine, Leonardo Magazine, Poland, Polska Panorama and Seattle Post Intelligencer. Northwest Arts published several articles including her interview with Henry Moore.
She studied a year at Elmira College before earning her B.A. with a Fine Art major, in 1966, at Harpur College, State University of New York. In 1984, Accademia Bedriacense, in Calvatore Italy, selected Rita for an honorary "Diploma Maestro". Since then, she did graduate work at University of Oklahoma, Seattle Pacific University and Western Washington University. Rita earned a "President's Scholarship" to complete a M.A. in Management at City University in 1998.
Rita is also wife and the mother of one son, who recently served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Russia. As disaster reservist with the Federal Emergency Management Agency she has assisted victims after floods, hurricanes, firestorms, tornadoes, earthquakes, the Oklahoma City bombing and the crash of Egyptian Airline Flight 990. Kepner was selected for biographical reference in Marquis Who's Who in the World, Who's Who of American Women,and the Cambridge International Who's Who of Business and Professional Women.

She also taught art classes for adults at Mount Carmel Art Association, New Haven, Connecticut; Experimental College, University of Washington, Seattle, Washington; and was involved for nearly three years as Master Sculptor in a special apprenticeship program for students at the Evergreen College,
Olympia, Washington. She also taught young people's art for the Bothell School System summer program, Bothell, Washington.
She has had commissions and art on exhibitions in six countries: Wiesbaden, West Germany 1988; Warsaw, Poland 1981; Zalaegerszeg, Hungary 1977; Manawata Art Gallery, New Zealand 1977; Biskupin, Poland 1976; Seattle Art Museum, Seattle, Washington 1976; Portland Art Museum, Portland, Oregon 1976; Exposition Gallery, Vancouver, B.C., British Columbia 1975; Berkshire Art Museum, Pittsfield, Massachusetts 1967; and others.
